Advertising Details

sLiterary offers two main kinds of ads:
  1. Graphical Ads are standard ad motifs consisting of an image of a certain size, as shown in the sLiterary ADbooks, or Ad Placement Handbooks. All graphical ads come with complimentary professional ad design at no extra cost.

Note that in the case where there are more bids for the same graphical ad location then there are fitting locations, the buyer will be offered a chance to raise the bid, and the ad location goes to the highest bidder.

  2. TagAds are relevant-word-based link-ads, which are unique to this publication. They are typically displayed below a story, as shown in the fields marked "your word here" in the sLiterary ADbook. Each story will be assigned certain tag words, according to content, which are typically ordinary words, such as "dresses" or "shoes" or "cars." The corresponding TagAd would be linked to an address, such as a website or SLurl.

Please note that similar words, such as "clothing" and "clothes" may be grouped together as one tag word.

A purchase of a TagAd is defined as a bid. In the case that multiple bids are made for the same word, the linking will be shared among the bidders, via a weighed percentage based on each bidder's number of purchases of the same word. (For example, suppose the ad word "apple" is only sponsored by two bidders --- bidders A and B. If Bidder A spends 9 bids purchasing the word "apple," and Bidder B spends 1 bid purchasing this same word, Bidder A's link will be displayed 90% of the time, while Bidder B's link will only be displayed 10% of the time.)

Alternatively, each story will feature a special sponsoring Wildcard TagAd, which may be a pronoun, such as a brand name. The Wildcard TagAd goes to the bidder who purchases the most TagAds, in descending order. The Wildcard TagAd will be static, always linking to this highest bidding patron's address. The highest bidder will be contacted regarding the Wildcard TagAd.

All ads will be placed near relevant content. Graphical Ads may sometimes serve as a visual complement or extension of the corresponding story. They are defined as seamless, in this case.

All advertising packages come with permanent web exposure, i.e., once the latest issue passes, the ads will stay active in the archived issue. Ads may link to a website or SLurl.

Finally, all patrons will have complimentary SLTracer accounts to track their ad exposure, both in world and on the web.

Please note that discounts and specials will be applied retroactively as refunds.
